The Nag’s Head Bar (York - Yorkshire)

The Nag’s Head Bar

For me the nags head is the name of a ye olde pub in outback of some old country village, not the plumage and centrepiece for York’s finest gathering of trendy’s and tracksuit wearing rude-boys and girls before they make their way to more brand-name establishments. I have to say though that 3 shots for the price of 1 is a very good offer on drinks but they give me a hard time about what the law suggests they can mix these shots with and in what order. The bar is a tiny affair in a room with a low ceiling and very loud music with disco lights. This leads back into an alley with tables running alongside under-cover leading out to a garden area. The place is not over-crowded however but you do get some menacing looks just for arriving and I’m sure harsher ones in the back as you leave.

Overall the place is a little irritating despite the obvious efforts to impress its clientele, i almost wanted to de-cable the speakers positioned by our tables for the music was deafening, unnecessarily so. And although the place doesn’t feel at all safe; it lends itself to the punter who can afford a couple of very cheap very heavy round before popping outside to mug someone, I’m sure. 5/10
