Woodies Ale House

Woodies has enough of a claim to fame to be perfectly well standing on its own with the merit of being the start of the otley run. Probably the most famous pub crawl north of the equator. And Woodies is a very busy place to be at midday on a Saturday. Entering from the villase lane outside the front, Woodies is just like any other pub which could also be confused ar a lounge. There is psycedlic carpet, large booths for group seating and as you head into the pub there is a pool table. The bar has a good selection of cheap drinks which is just as well as the majority of the bar is students in fancy dress. It is clear to see why the bar staff are not overly friendly. The pub is however bright and cheerful, as you head back into its depths a larger area opens up revealing a big screen and a playing area for darts. Out the back is a large beer garden which backs onto the side road.

It seems strange to say it but Woodies is a very well equipped pub to handle large crowds, sports fans and students and probably suits older individuals for a quiet pint when the students aren’t invading but aside from the crowds the distance from town is somewhat inconvieniant - 6/10
