The Skyrack Bar

An almost gothic feel to what is essentially a sports bar. The Skyrack is a large pub sat in its own block with bouncers on the front door and a barred fence back garden at the rear with a swoth of outdoor tables, picnic benches and heaters. At the front of the pub is a bar, darkly lit with beer served up in plastic glasses. Drinking, I notice rugby shirts framed on the walls signed and approved for gallery use. The noise echoing through the bar is sport commentary matching the TV footage perched on high. A Couple of pool tables sit in a raised area ot the left after the front bar and the back bar (pictured above) is dreary and quiet even at the busiest times of evening as the crowds flock into the garden. Spotlights light up odd parts of the pub and it really is very chav-infested.

Overall the lack of music brings this place down, its entertainments lead only so far as to please rugby fans, the crowds in the garden only seem to prefer it because it is closer to the exits and to top things off my beer begins leaking through the fumbley plastic tumbler - 4/10

I used to work as chef in the kitchen here. The place as you make it, maybe run down a little but this is not due to staff or management of the place. The staff here do a great job and try their upmost hardest to maintain the place and stop it from falling down, i myself spend hours every week cleaning front of house. This is all down to lack of respect from its clientele, and it i snot always the students as you would expect, the locals in my eyes can be far worse than the rowdy student crowds. I think your 4/10 needs changing, i suggest you go do a few night shifts behind the bar on a busy summers weekend youll soon see for yourself
