Strawberry Field Bar

A rather interesting addition to the Leeds bar scene, Strawberry Fields is a multi-level cafe which, in its darkened mood lighting becomes a bar. It can be said that in fact strawberry fields is a bar with a twist, a quite powerful twist in the form of Absinthe. In fact the first bar in the country that I have found that serves premium “power” absinthe at a cool 85% abv. This shocking content comes at five pounds a shot but is supposedly infamous to the area. Those on the Otley Run passing through will find that substituting a shot where pints had been favourable never sits well on the stomach but opt for a lower strength shot and you will get your absinthe set on fire in the traditional way. The upstairs – accessible from both front and back staircases is as cafe-like as the downstairs – with rickety Ikea chairs and a quiet feel about the place, seems to be family run.

Overall a unique experience that isn’t altogether inviting but different, perhaps describing it as more of a European smoothey-bar feel is ridiculously vague – but go along for a shot of the good stuff and you’ll see what i mean – 7/10
