Christkinelmarkt Bar

The Christkinelmarkt is a token of German Christmas heritage playing an annual role as a market, fair and bar December of every year in the main square in the city centre in Leeds. Queueing to get into the Bar area is common-place but standing in line you can already hear to the brass band inside striking up chords and woolly-hatted children collected at your knees. Within is a large hall with a centre-piece Christmas tree, bars in two of the four corners, booths, long tables, singing, dancing, hot Baileys-with-Chocolate drinks, traditional beers and sausages. The band was very popular and the place is very festive and spirited. The gentleman parading around with an upturned dish on his head selling shots from a tray is a particular novelty selling his wares at £1 each for some of the most vile liquors you are likely to experience. The only downside is that the toilets are outside.
Overall a fantastic day and evening out, its a shame its only on once a year but this truly carries a Christmas spirit with it and I would be only too glad to return for more festivities next December - 8/10
