Wong Kei Restaurant

With one of the more comical names on the Soho Chinese restaurant scene, wong kei is a great example of the tourist traps in the area. Downstairs wong kei is a veritable showroom of cuisine and dining with curiosities in the window and Chinese staff beckoning you in. Head in however and you will be led up several flights of stairs with each floor looking grimmer than the last eventually we are led into a rather badly lit room which resembles a grim school dinner hall. The walls are grey, the staff had out old worn menus to our larger group across the big round table with paper tablecloth. The menu is filled with horrific dishes like BBQ intestine. We order is for a laugh and it comes in small chewy rings with small hair like projections inside. Feeling sick to the stomach we begin the long journey downstairs after the end of the meal.
Overall overpriced and dirty despite the funny name although arguably a fully authentic Chinatown experience - 2/10
