Thai Square

This chain of restaurants places itself as high up the ladder as image will go,yet in the interest of class, this particular venue doesn’t quite get it right. Shaftesbury Avenue isn’t exactly a loud of dangerous place yet a bouncer is posted outside. He lets you inside to which you are greeted by a foreroom and back room, both of decent but not over extravegant decor. The female staff are wearing red dresses, skin tight and revealing but sexy and totally distracting on a date. In the corner a Self playing piano attempts to set the mood with lounge classics. The lighting is relatively low and although the food is inventive it is not ground breaking or particularly amazing for thai food. To complete the serve rice is served into my lap. By the end of the meal we are about done with the effect of the brand and a sales pitch about holidays in thailand accompanies our bill. We leave with some haste.
Overall an experience tailored to those who enjoy good thai and can laugh at the failed attempt to create a romantic environment, instead polishing off a slice of thai novelty pie-still at least the desert was good. 6/10
