Masala Zone

Tucked neatly in a pocket of Soho just by carnaby street is a branch of Masala zone, the chain of curry restaurants which seems to be lurking in the quieter corners of the capital. Masala zone is broadly speaking a stopping point for fast lunch of the Indian cuisine for business folk and fashionable couples. The interior is set out in a wide space on two different levels. Finding seating upon entry is a difficult affair, the staff seem quite confused. Setting down near the entrance we are presented with a complex lunch menu. Somewhere in the thick of modernised traditional Curry’s there was a special offer, it appeared that not everyone eating with me worked that out and subsequently unexpected food arrived at the table.the food is expensive for what it is and not laid out in a particularly exciting way (think Imli without the finishing touches or flavour).
Overall we leave Masala zone rather confused, the food had been more peppery than spicy. Had we enjoyed the meal?no and the venue didn’t lend itself to enjoyment either.no return visit for me 3/10
