The Lantern Restaurant

Despite its seemingly dated decor and family like welcome, the lantern is one of my favourite Greek restaurants. From outside the more upmarket kebab shop and diner looks like a quiet but well-to-do place to enjoy a meze and indeed it is just that. Sitting at wooden tables with table clothes my nan would buy, we order from the reasonably long menu and partake of what arrives after about a twenty minute wait. The meze is a favourite but so filling that i have watched grown men beg the Greek restaurant owner to take the final meat course back to the kitchen. The swordfish is also succulent and moreish with food piled on over sized plates to recipes older than London itself.
Overall the lantern is warm and friendly and a good place for a family meal or as a crazy meze challenge with friends. Its not great for a buzzing party atmosphere but suits its purpose at the right price - 8/10
