Pizza Express

Most pizza expresses have bright bold signs that shout out to the hungry and pull them inside but pizza express in whetstone is not like that. I feel it shys away from the wandering eye even if it is on the high street. Inside its alcoves and tight corners with wooden pillars and steps into hidden booths make the venue more intimate. The candlelit dinner in here doesn’t feel like that of a chain restaurant but feels like an old pizzeria, words like true spirit spring to mind but it isn’t particularly Italian either. The staff damage the experience a little because not being seen means not being seen waving an arm for more black pepper. iI doesn’t get overcrowded either and i think for a relaxed Italian, this venue is less buzzing and more chilled than ask which is just over the road.
Overall a fun layout for a chain restaurant, somewhat different and worthy for a date on a budget-buy wine and hide from nosey neighbouring tables - 6/10
