Chopstick Exchange (Whetstone - London)

Chopstick Exchange

In it’s heyday chopstick exchange was a wonderful place to do. With two kinds of buffet and so centralised on the whetstone high street, it was full every night. Once upon a time ago there was a raw meat counter where you would select your food and it would be cooked in front of you on a production line. Sushi nights were also popular and karaoke. Now those sweet and succulent foods have been replaced with cheap alternatives, far fewer dishes and a poor table service. The quiet hall in which it sits now have under-dressed folk in tracksuits - shovelling food in mouths. The food is so salty that the venue makes its money out of the drink people knock back in desperation and there is nothing inventive or special on the buffet table.

Overall the appeal of this place is all you can eat which is ready to eat there and then and being possibly the only buffet left in north London, it does get some clients. Its just a shame to have witnessed its decline and to feels that, overpriced for what it is, we may be experiencing the last days of chopstick exchange 4/10

It’s not *that* bad. I’d say maybe 5/10 for the quality, but 6/10 for value (I don’t find it that expensive).

Since Ma’Jong closed some time ago, this place will do for now when I’m out and hungry.

Jason, the guy that wrote the e-mail above have we touched a sensitive spot. Because it has gone downhill and all you get there in the restaurant are one of the fork shoveling folk that like to swallow their food rather than eat it.
