Joy Fook Restaurant

Quite what Joy is present at the infamous “Joy Fook” in East Barnet, is any-one’s guess. This quiet corner-side Chinese restaurant has descended over the years from one of the best restaurants in Barnet down to quite a dire dining experience. Inside, the restaurant is falling apart, badly painted walls, rickety tables and paper table clothes make it feel like a very cheap experience. The bar is single standing of a counter with one or two optics of empty bottles of alcohol. The staff are two Chinese girls who scarper about the place among the one or two occupied tables looking very confused. The menu is served up on a laminated yellow piece of card. The idea is to order as much food as you like and consume before ordering more, all for a set price. The food is agreeable but with young children appearing from the kitchen, running round the restaurant a couple of times and then going back, makes the place seem like a creche. The restaurant is good value for money but it really is too run down to pass as a place to eat.
Overall it is not the sort of place you would want to bring a date, strictly for the very hungry for its food deal but even then the food isn’t magnificent - 3/10

Well Greg you obviously haven’t been to many Chinese restaurants in Barnet. Joy Fook happens to be one of the best Chinese eateries in North London. I have travelled all the way from Leyton tonight just to eat at Joy Fook. All the staff here are very friendly the menus are definitely not tacky. You quite clearly don’t know a good restaurant I’d it slapped you in the face. Cheers

Crap in many senses but true in others (the review, not the restaurant). I’d not take anyone here if I wanted to impress them into bed, agreed, but the food blows China Town away - a Sensation in Suburbia is what the Joy Fook is. Hate the kids the decor the powerful lighting and the Barnet/Chinese accent but have to go back for the food.
