Terrace Bar Solent Hotel and Spa

A picturesque modern lounge with brown rouge leather and wicker seating, entering the venue there seems to be the distant keys of piano music in what feels very much like an up Market, but not particularly relaxing, setting and this due to the layout, the wooden floor leads up tidy steps here and there and turns one sharp corner leaving the venue quite broken up. The bar itself is relatively quiet throughout the day so service is fast and friendly, The selection however, is not great. There are a handful of beer taps with one offering cider alongside, a variety of spirits and wines. Drinks can be charged to the room but they are very hefty in cost and strange bars crisps which were halfway evolving to nuts were forced on us at cost. In fact after two rounds we couldn’t afford to stay for more drinks and left the venue disappointed and out of pocket.

Overall the venue felt like it had an upturned nose to those without a hefty bank balance, I watch as a posh waiter leads a school leaver around the bar an patronisingly shows him the parts ofthe bar as he rolls his eyes. The terrace is not a terrace, its a bit of hallway with a bar charging an arm and a leg for the privileged but it does have a certain charm which matches the rest of the hotel 5/10.
