Roast Bar

A quiet thai restaurant with a normal bar out front in a hall-like room where the light thai music drifts in from the restaurant and very bright lighting seems to damage what environment the venue should have.we are shown to our red leather diner chairs much like i a restaurant but i decline to have table service and approach the bar for cheap shots. Suddenly the hostess appears behind the bar and serves me from a good variety of drinks. It turns out that the drinks aren’t so cheap….fourteen quid for two shots and two doubles doesn’t seem to be quite the student prices i was expecting. It has to be said that roast has a very friendly environment, even the strict doormen who id every entrant, have a quick banter and a smile.it has to be said that there is cheap decor but its still more attractive than the others on the strip. The place feels somewhat uncomfortable and with the bright 1000watt atlas making me feel like a deer in headlines partly mesmerised by the music videos on the walls wha are not playing the same asian pop music as is inside.

Overall we leave feeling ready to continue the night out as if this venue was a pitt stop with its gold trimmings and skirting boards but no atmosphere, quiet interior and as a final note ticks and floaters populating the unpleasant toilets - 5/10
