Bar 38

From the beautiful views of the portsmouth harbour and gunners wharf is a stark contrast of drunken readjints groups of men who tear down the prominade along the canal and settle at the chrome tables outside Bar 38. This rather common, rough chain bar feels very much like a yates but without the signatory logo everywhere. Instead student pirates and tattooed football lovers gawk at football on wide screens above the bar. The place is pretty crowded for a late saturday afternoon and approaching the bar we find a good selection of drinks including a cheap apple sours replica served off in test tubes. Finding that the only location to sit down is outside we endure the growing seabreeze and enjoy the view. Bar 38 is just a big rounded room really, showing the game illegally with a games machine out of order. Features include some weird twisty stairs and a comically big armchair.
Overall if you are into your cheap grub, with love music but nowhere to dance, cheap drinks and a parade of dirty tattooed men spitting on the floor then feel welcome here.i left unsure if the prices really meant it was worthy of a 5/10
