The Brass Monkey Bar (Nottingham)

The Brass Monkey Bar

A busy, trendy, long, thin, tunnel-like cocktail bar in one of the more popular parts of Nottingham town centre. Brass monkey spill out brash dark urban tunes among a crowd of excitable students and young adults without long queues to have to contend with on entry. The cocktail menu is pretty impressive and the cocktails themselves are strong, well prepared and impressive, the detail put into my Brass monkey twist on a martini left a smile on my face after the first sip, while my co-drinkers likened me to a woman in her 40s. The area at the back exposes the only seating on this floor, red leather couches, beyond this the trail continues up to a terrace bar.

Overall brass monkey is very popular because the drinks and music are very respectable but the venue is too tiny to make for a comfortable night - with little seating and a gauntlets of drinkers to spring through to reach the couches at the back you are left to enjoy your smashing cocktail among a flurry of elbows and grins - 7/10
