Bar Risa

The bar is the centre-piece in this venue, accessible from all sides with a very good selection of wines, beers, spirits and ciders, witha comedy club upstairs and a galley overlooking onto the bar from above. On a Saturday night however this place is a little quiet, rumoured to be louder in the week when the venue plays host to karaoke competitions where free drinks and screeching is on the cards. The poor DJ however is pretty bad, breaking into speech every few seconds disrupts the music and dissipates the crowd which even a pool tables and several sports screens cannot retain. The service however is very fast, the drinks are quite cheap and the wide floorspace means room for crowds and parties.
Overall the place has character, its a newly built bar with plenty of scope but it seems to lack a decent crowd at the weekend and without it one can only wonder if it will withstand the true test of time for bar hoppers and Nottingham’s infamous student crowd - 7/10
