Centric Point Hostel Bar

For a youth hostel so embedded in the centre of a city as majestic and fantastic as Barcelona, you could do a lot worse than end up at Centric Point. One of the most compelling features of this establishment is its bar. There is no cash kept behind the counter so there is token system, whereby receipts are dispensed when you pay for drinks which are selectable on a kind of old jukebox and the receipt, when handed to the staff, produces a drink. The bar is a bit like a youth club, large wooden tables with different parties mixing among tables, blackboard walls displaying events over the upcoming week and Internet access in the corner. The music playing is not too loud and sometimes the talking of the crowd drowns it out . The Chinese lantern effect hanging from ceiling, is a simple decor which helps add a spoke more atmosphere than a simple dining room . Expect multi-lingual confrontations, much cheaper drinks than you can get elsewhere in this part of Barcelona and best of all its only on the second floor if you are staying in the hostel.

Overall a friendly cheap and cheerful bar with some good facilities, serving breakfast for free in the mornings but if is to be taken more seriously as a bar the variety of drinks needs to be increased and hot glass beer mugs are never a welcome wagon for drinks to be served in - 7/10
