9Rouge Restaurant and Bar

At the bottom of one of the more popular strips of bars and restaurants in Novi Sad sits a quiet venue called Rouge. There is comfortable seating out the front with dark brown wicker chairs filled with a mafia looking collective of gentlemen and a well-to-do young couple baking in the sun under the corner of an over-sized umbrella. Sitting down at one of the vacant tables, one of the waiting staff comes over and asks what we would like. We order a quick drink and, wishing to order food, are told to wait for a while. We sit and muse over an expensive menu (a red bull at around £3.50) listening in the background to some pulsating music which sounds like an endless slow electronic drum loop. After a good fifteen minutes the waiter comes back and informs us that this is a new venue and as such the menu consists of only two dishes. Quite appalled by the slow service and poor communication we finish our drinks and head off.
Overall an expensive, comfortable waste of everyone’s time and at the end of this road for a good reason – take note and go somewhere closer to the cathedral for a bite – 4/10
