The Breakers Bar

A strong contender for my favourite bar on board the P&O cruise liner Ventura. Breakers bar, on deck 16 spends it evenings under the starlight and overlooks the Laguna pool to view the entertainment going on at night. It was the first part of the boat I experienced upon coming on board and in the dull cloud of Southampton it didn’t reveal its true colours until the sun bore down on it a day into the journey. Sitting at wooden chairs and tables labelled “made on earth”, the seating area to the bar receives table service throughout the day and the cocktails, although a little on the weak side are well priced. The bar staff around the bar area are not the fastest servers in the world but they are some of the friendliest on the boat and a week into our holiday we had pretty much decided to come to this bar before dinner each night.

Overall breakers bar pretty much as the most breathtaking scenery. I remember sitting at one the table sipping a sea breeze while far in the distance the shape of the land was home to a thunderstorm overhead, the lighting lit up the whole sky over the land in a dazzling display while I sat dry as a bone in the warm Mediterranean heat - merely as a spectator to nature - 8/10
