Piccadilly Lounge

The City Inn hotel overlooks the embankment of Manchester Piccadilly station and its bar with glass walls and stone flooring, faces directly out into the main road. The venue is a decent size for a hotel bar, the interior is glazed with subtle finishes like big low tables, a dominating bar with bright white backdrop and overly smart bar staff, standing to attention awaiting an order. Cocktails are the order of the day and I look on as the are prepared with precision. Unfortunately the downfall of this bar is a lack of true character, its been created to service a look which from outside is one of prestige and glamour. Within the confines of the glass walls it feels like a cage in a zoo, passerbys look in constantly and sipping a drink I catch the eyes of all those waiting to check in at reception, there is no escape.

Overall I foudn my surprised at the amoutn of students in here, the drinks are clearly a winner with external parties more than guests but I don’t like the feel of the place, the exhibitionism and the over smartened clothing - 5/10
