The Ox and Gate Pub

Unfortunately not every trip to a Pub, Bar or club is in the highest of spirits or for the party scene and in this case my family and I attended the wake of a family friend - Roy Ballance. This was my first trip to Neasdon and this pub really my only reference for the area to date. The pub itself is rather large with shiny flooring and a very clean look about it. The bar service is rather quick and the place feels rather like an esteemed gastro pub rather than any other kind of traditional local. The pub served the usual sandwiches and finger food as family and friends reclined in comfortable deep arm chairs and purpose suited tables. Being early in the day the place was relatively empty but with the odd showcase of drink offers and the like it seemed rather ordinary.
Overall I can only show my thanks to the staff at the venue for being attentive to the family’s needs at such a difficult time. Roy often drank in this pub, he was a very friendly very animated character who loved his ale and I would like to think that his judgement to visit this venue so frequently was a strong reflection of it’s character and how comfortable the staff and setting made him feel. In dedication to his judgement I give this pub an 8/10, probably far higher than I would be able to give based soundly on a single visit on the morning of this rather emotional day.
