The Laurel’s Bar

The Laurel’s Bar clearly has a problem getting women in the door. The main issue may be the fact the bar has a sponsorship agreement with the Rugby club down the road and this pulls in some thirty odd over sized testosterone fuelled young men after a match. The attempt to pull the girls comes from an all-you-can eat drink offer to the girls where a tenner gets them unlimited drinks all night (perhaps the first off I have ever seen of its kind). Yet the girls who do enter seem oblivious to the offer and in their blonde states buy drinks by the glass. The doormen are more strict about entry as well - smart dress only and with large deep booths and scatty bar staff the place certainly has more of a charm than Sweeney’s up the road.
Overall one of the nicer bars in this part of Ruislip with good transport links but it needs to get its mix of gender and marketing strategy right if it wants to push away the old male regulars and bring in the totty - 6/10

I do have to say that every time I have been in the Laurels the place is empty. There is no atmosphere in the evenings, and the customers are made up of those that have been barred from the other local pubs. It is not a place to meet friends and I know that all my work colleagues and friends would not choose to have a drink there. Avoid this pub whenever possible. I would give 3/10

Walking in it seemed ok and the music was good.
We sat at the front near the door as it was empty except for an unusual character who looked out of place and the doormen and the other end was manic where the dancefloor and toilets are.
My phone was stolen out of my pocket within 5 minutes of not being in my eyesight and then switched off. I have reported it to the police as someone around the door area (not directing this at anyone in particular) must have seen a person walk across to where my friend and I were sitting and go into my jacket. It was empty in this part of the bar other than us and the people mentioned above.
I will be going back to the bar as it is a very good atmosphere but thieves beware as I intend on catching you in the act. You have been warned!
