The Ship Pub

The attitude of some bar staff is disgraceful but thankfully such experiences are few and far between, so imagine my dismay when an innocent looking pub, huddled on a corner of Wardour Street in soho, pulled the rudest rabbit out of the bag that could be imagined. Entering the venue, the bright yellowed and white washed walls didn’t make the venue feel particularly inviting anyway and with a small group of friends in tow it was difficult to see where we would make ourselves comfortable. We approached the bar man to enquire about drinks when we were told, with a helping of disdain that “people dressed in fancy dress were not to be served”. Quite taken aback, we could not understand how paper party hats could be considered fancy dress, we approached the barman again. He simply became angered by our determination to have even a small round of shots to which we were expelled from the premises.
Quite how we were to cause some nuisance by celebrating my own Birthday baffled myself and the group I was with and with stern frowns we headed off in search of kinder bars. In fact in the same attire no other bar staff came back with such a retort. Quite what makes the ship so superior to an astounding quality of venues in the section of soho is beyond me. In times like these the ship is only like to begin sinking with an attitude like that - avoid like the plague - 0/10
