The Nellie Dean Pub

From outside and on the ground floor of the Nellie Dean, the pub feels very small indeed, rather like an old lounge where the smell of old gravy lingures in the corners and groups of middle aged men pack themselves on tiny tables where the most obvious advantage being the price of the drinks. We are ushered upstairs by the bar man who notices the place is filling and ascend a very steep staircase. On the first floor is a large screen broadcasting sports illegally and a pool table, along with a very hampered antique slot machine. The view overlooking the streets of Soho below is quite agreeable and the atmosphere within is accommodating but not overly friendly. The toilets in the basement are rather worrying, expansive and with locked cubicles feel pretty far from welcoming.

Overall the Nellie is not actually a Gay Bar as it may be assumed given its location to Soho, but it is an accomodating venue, with probably one of the only pool tables in this part of the tainted square mile - 5/10
