The Kings Arms (Poland Street - London)

The Kings Arms

The street outside is deathly quiet, the expected buzz of soho, so close as it is to oxford street doesnt seem to penetrate this silent road. The Kings Arms is a gay pub, flying proudly a gay pride flag outside yet from the exterior appearing deserted. Within is a relatively traditional pub equipped with some gruff looking biker types and a very slow swerving barman who looks somewhat troubled. The place hjas a pool table upstairs and has an eery quiet about it. The drinks are reasonabley priced at £1.50 for a half pint and there are women dotted about the place but the men outnumber women about 20:1 difficult to highlight any wonders for such a venue.

Overall a succesful attempt to make a gay bar into a tradtional pub, but defintiely for an older crowd - 5/10

I think you went at the wrong time - this pub is very popular and gets very crowdedon Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

I’d also say it is a traditional pub that became a gay pub and not the other way round. This pub has a long history that goes back a long way.

For gay men who class themselves as Bears (or bear chasers) this is the premier pub to go to - for any age that likes that type.

I just got home from a visit to London and can say that this Pub is great!
It has a great atmosphere and the staff and patrons are very friendly to first-time visitors and helpful in suggesting other venues.
Drinks are generous and cheap…great for those watching their money.
