The Endurance Pub

The Endurance is well hidden on a side road of the depths of Soho. Its proximity to Old Compton Street and it’s blacked out exterior, bouncer on the door and suggestive title may indicate that this is a Gay bar. Now its difficult to say for sure that the friendly inhabitants (although predominantly male) were in fact gay or that this place deserves any kind of label. The venue was bustling with life, the darkened interior, more lounge like at the back, did not have enough seating for everyone. The bar service was not fast enough to be astounding yet not slow enough to be annoying. The overall atmosphere was very upbeat and laughs were had all round.

Overall the Endurance sounds almost like a painful venue, and given its location maybe off limits to some more cautious folk, but I found it to be friendly and popular and with an atmosphere worthy of a repeat visit - 6/10
