The Cambridge Pub

Wandering around Soho in search of some a little different, my friends and I stumble upon the Cambridge pub On Cambridge circus. As you may or may not be aware this is an area overpopulated with pubs, all of whom seem to pull in the punters so I’m eager to see what makes this one so different. I walk in an instantly think of one of my least favourite bars and that’s the roundhouse pub in covent garden. We’re talking a crabby, small, pub with a Massive window front, fooling those outside the pub that there is a veritable circus inside in terms of size. In fact with One or two tables the Cambridge gets off to a bad start. As if from no where I’m charged 225 an ale and with such a good price, a smile creeps back on my face. Walking away from the bar with beer in hand, the Old school features suggest an edge of the traditional yet the bar woman spoke little English, or at least that might just be because she just grunted when we were friendly towards her. Quite quickly the venue suddenly filled as a nearby theatre closed and the Cambridge was transformed into a crammed trendy indie bar.
Overall the popularity was forced, folk were here for convenience not charm or personality and with a bell sounding last orders at 11 on a Friday night, my friends and i, felling a little appalled, leave our pints and exit - 2/10
