Sugar Reef Bar

From the outside sugar reef looks a pretty exclusive venue with its ornate frontage and its straight faced bouncers. Within it is a large and noisy room with a scattering of round tables all occupied with a bar at the end of the room. To be honest it feels much like wading through a dining room at a wedding reception more than being in a bar. The VIP and larger reserved tables are situated by the bar at the end where the venue raises up to a second level with yet more dining room tables - this time occupied by hen parties and birthdays. The table service is pretty good , the waitress is organised and friendly but j found the bar staff to be appalling. Unable to make cocktails properly my margarita is a joke, its half the size it should be and as I pour champagne by the bar one of the staff knocks half a bottle of it down my leg and doesn’t offer to replace the beverage. Furthermore the bar man doesn’t seem to know what to do with a bank card. On the plus side drinks are a more reasonable price at happy hour which lasts til 8 than they are in some other more upmarket bars of Soho. The food is also quite good but the menu is a little confusing and needs revamping.

Overall sugar reef was a long way from the sort of bar I expected. Its a glorified dining area with a joke of a bar and I think the only thing that will tempt me back is the happy hour, but even then I will take an umbrella I couldn’t stand to get my shoes soaked by the staff again 4/10
