Paramount Bar

I have been visiting the bars and clubs of London’s Soho for a great many years and each and every time have skirted underneath one of London’s most prestigious monuments. The skyscraper standing alone in the middle of the west end is Centre Point and I was lucky enough to be treated to an anniversary dinner and drinks on the top two floors. The food at the Paramount restaurant was excellent, the door staff downstairs, lift attendant and receptionist all seem to know my name and why I am there. The restaurant itself has a bar upon entry and serves a fantastic variety of drinks at the sort of prices you would expect at this height (although surprisingly the food is quite affordable). The true bar is on the floor above and consists of a 360 degree panorama of the city of London and at night the view is spectacular. The seating ranges from small tables and chairs to leather recliners. The bar area is situated in the middle of the floor but the corridor/viewing galley layout means that it is possible to find an intimate corner with a date and watch the streets of London below. We see some fireworks going off towards the square mile and are hypnotised by the glow of London’s lights as we sip our Chenin Blanc. Overall a truly spectacular view, great for drinks on a date, perhaps not for parties and no, the novelty doesn’t wear thin after a few hours, but if it were a little less cramped it would probably be perfect - 8/10
