Chocolate Bar

Why is it that the thought of a Chocolate bar conjures up imagery of Willy Wonka standing at the entrance to a palace of rivers of flowing Cocoa, walls of marshmallows and beverages which resemble sweet desserts rather than my Smartini which stares back at me as a regular martini would only with smarties slowly dissolving in the bottom of it rather than an olive. The bar itself is a small affair and the waitress that serves the tables seems more interested with what you want to eat (quite nice looking non-desserty morsels) rather than what you want to drink and the menu is more like a dire cocktail bar than that of anything child-like and candified. Disappointed with having to pay £8 for a cocktail but finding them to be pleasantly strong I found this place to be a lot more like a cafe than a bar, fragile furnishings and flamboyant quiet characters occupying the small corners of the room.

Overall unwelcoming and a dream truly shattered, a good cocktail or two to be had but there’s a bitter smell in the air and few occupants are smiling - 5/10
