The Glassblower Pub
There is a clump of pubs in this small delta off of the river that is regent street and it caught me off guard that I had not been to one of these yet. (Strange when you think I work only a few yards away) Heading inside I am instantly drawn to the aesthetics of the room, its like being in a lighthouse, the room is very rounded with a very large novelty lamp in the middle of the room (glowing dully). The windows surrounding actually fill the room with light, the tables sitting under these windows. The tennis is playing on the few TVs above our heads and the bar is at the far end. Service is very fast (I cant get my money out quick enough) and the selection is good. In fact I notice the strong smell of home cooking rather quickly and with hearty treats like pie and sausage, this venue is clearly not just for the drinkers. In fact looking around its couples and tourists with the know-how that are dining in here.
Overall a really nice traditional pub with great food. The building work behind it to the Piccadilly hotel has thankfully not damaged this building and with clear choice of two other pubs out the front door - in future I shall pick the glassblower first - 7/10
