The Cheers Bar (Piccadilly - London)

The Cheers Bar

Some themed bars are better than others but Cheers Bar in it accessible position near Piccadilly Circus tube station certainly looks inviting. Entering the venue you pass a small souvenir stand, an assortment of tables that serve a large front bar and deep towards the back is a square bar which can be approached from all angles as is the style of the TV show equivalent. Cheers bar seems to specialise in cocktails but they are quite expensive for being as weak as the are. The bar staff also take a long time to create them, and the presentation of such concoctions would make the cast and creators of the long-running sitcom, wail in disgust. The bar also features sport on a lot of plasma screens and the crowd is tourist-orientated but one that is also very much focused on drinking and having a good night out so the vibe remains pretty pleasant.

Overall a large bar for the area and definitely worth poking your nose in for one, but be warned it does crowd quickly and if you like to have your Margarita served to you in a glass that has less character than the cardboard-bit from the inside of a toilet roll, be my guest - 5/10

Beware of thieves. My wife had her handbag and medical equipment (she is a doctor) stolen there by a thief who was too quick either for her or for the ’security man’ at the door.
