The Clarence Pub

With such close range to Green Park station one would assume that the tourists swarm in and around this pub like locusts but it is just enough off the tourist path to be quiet enough to get a table. Or at least I thought so on my Saturday afternoon visit. Outside are a couple of small tables where regulars are perched and within is a more dark but homely atmosphere. The place is clean and tidy and quite traditional in design. The bar is a medium size,  but the rest of the pub is quite small but comfortable and the friendly fast service helps us to enjoy it a little more. The barman was so impressed with our monopoly pub crawl outfits that he joined us in photos and eagerly told us that the Clarence was a friendly more traditional pub environment to both work and relax in but it did feel a lot like a part of a chain and didn’t sit too well as traditional for me.

Overall  the Clarence is like most other pubs in the area but it does manage to hold its own crowd and not fill too much, for a pint and a friendly, slightly dark evening, the Clarence fits the bill 6/10
