Button Down Disco (Various venues - London)

Button Down Disco

Button Down Disco is a club night that is never in the same venue two weeks in a row and which you can only be invited to to get into. Its such a strange concept that explaining it to people gets a look of surprise. The premise is that you never know where the club night will be the next week unless you are on the button down disco mailing list.

So why would you go chasing a club that really gets round the block? Well for starters its nice to have the same music, alcohol prices, Dj and crowd that you can rely on while visiting different locations and because it has an element of exclusivity it has become a pretty popular event in London. Apart from being sent an invite from the button down disco website you can also get hold of a badge which, if worn on entry gets you in without invite. This is why I always wear my button down disco badge on my coat, a number of times I have been invited to go to button down disco but not had the chance to print off a flyer and the badge is a godsend.

Its also worth noting that Button Down Disco is quite fun in a camp sort of way, massive balloons get bounced round by the crowd, the music varies from remixed cheese to dance, to indie rock. The biggest appeal from most people is that before 10pm entry is free with an invite and on a Saturday night in London that is pretty unbeatable. Drinks prices early on are also very low.

I recommend checking it out at least once. Its quite fun to stand in the queue outside as strangers frantically ask you if you have a spare invitation and of course not knowing where you are gonna going that weekend until the last minute spices the evening up.
