Giraffe Restaurant (Russell Square - London)

Giraffe Restaurant

Giraffe is a buzzing chain of restaurants that enjoys the delights of 21st century vegetarians, diverse meat eaters and families that keep snakes instead of goldfish. Its alive but in a trans-dimensional fashion that leaves the diner looking more curiously into the crowd than into the menu. Cocktails are available but there is no bar and we get a waitress with giant shoulders, a deep voices and her eyes fixed on posteriors of her female customers. She uncomfortably whips round the table in disciplined fashion and brings out a delight of refreshments whilst barking order and giving sweet smile to those at the table that afford her a wink. I feel like its her restaurant and somehow there’s no room for any consumers.

Overall a very weird place to select for one’s dining and if sipping an overly lavish cocktail among pushchairs and one dramatic female drill sergeant is your cup of tea then by all means… 3/10 in this barracks though.

I was actually searching for a Giraffe Restaurant website to put a sort-of complaint and came across yr blog instead. My friend & I had brunch there today. Had a lady that served us who not once smiled. The way she cleared our table - i was scared she would physically kick us out. When it came to time to pay, we asked for student discount (my friend had eaten there before with other friends and they got given student discounts) but she flatly refused. The other waiter said that she was boss. Go figure - being Asians, we thought she could be borderline racist.
