Bloomsbury Bowl

This is a crazy crazy venue, well hidden in the loopy streets behind Russell Square station. Quite literally a world of entertainments to suit all, but the bowling, i must add, needs to be booked in advance. So what else does this venue offer? Well after paying the entrance fee you make your way down some large stairs, past an audience of seats watching a cinema screen over the entrance to the rest of the venue. People fill the corridor as you turn left and past an assortment of private karaoke rooms. After this comes the fifties style diner to the left, not a separate room but sectioned off from everything else. Next up is the booking desk and shoe point for the bowling followed by a large bar, semi circular and overcrowded, then a space which seems to act as a dance-floor, a stage (which offers live acts and a casino while I am present) and the bowling lanes are squeezed in to the left.

Overall a blind panic of things to do but it does get popular, its not huge and it does feel so old that its falling apart, more popular with students and first-timers than anything else. Initial appeal is great but once the novelty wears off it can feel overcrowded and more quantity than quality of entertainments, plus the prices at the bar are too high - 6/10

BBL is a brilliant venue. Not sure about falling apart as it is only 2 years old or there abouts. If paying £2.80 for a pint in central London is expensive then I don’t think the previous poster has been out much. It is nice to go to a bar that does not over charge.

We go bowling there early in the week when its more relaxed and not on club nights.
