O’Neills -Muswell Hill
A monument of a building, in fact a disbanded church, this is probably the most peculiar looking pub I have ever been in. On entering you are in a huge hall which descends on a wide bar. The serving times here are slow and the floor gets quickly packed at the weekend so find yourself a seat. There is also a massive staircase which takes you up to an overlooking galley which pans the whole way around the lower hall and has its own bar, also with long waiting times. The Drinks are a brilliant price and getting drunk in a church never felt better!
Overall a blasphemic 8/10.

Umm , Tony Scaramuzza….Is that you? Did you used to work at The Harley Street Clinic? I used to be the Theatre Secretary and you used to make me laugh so hard I’d snort!
I’m in Oz now! If it is you, drop me a line at nicola@peopleintelligence.com.au.

When this was converted into a pub, it was part of the Firkin chain owned by the now-defunct Bruce’s Brewery, which meant that they stocked their own beers (brewed on the premises?) as well as the more usual brands. At the time the pubs in Muswell Hill were dire, so it was a breath of fresh air for local drinkers, not to mention the fact that it attracted the best looking women in the area!
Now, alas, it’s just another plastic Irish pub: don’t expect any ‘proper’ beer and only venture there on a Friday or Saturday night if you enjoy the company of the sad and desperate!
