Bertorelli Restaurant

This popular chain of restaurant/bar combinations is dotted all over the west end of London but I think this is the original of that chain. The bar area is downstairs in this two floor venue – it is brightly lit up with an average selection of beers and wines and caters to the couples that sit comfortably in the stalls facing the road out front. Thankfully Charlotte street is quiet enough for a relaxing drink to be just that. The restaurant which dominates the upstairs is an upmarket looking affair, the staff buzz around, keen to please but often failing in many areas, keen on dessert – we wait half an hour at the end of our meal before deciding it’s not worth the wait. The menu had had a recent change on our visit and we noticed that it was populated with a good variety of dishes with assorting themes but for the price, although the food was delectable, portions were too small. The wine was very suitable however and certainly complimented the meal.
Overall Bertorelli is a nice place to go for an overpriced Italian meal that probably tastes according to cost but isn’t the kind of place to go for a relaxing drink or an overly luxurious evening, I suppose it suits a taste that isn’t my own – 6/10
