The Safari Club

Not impressed by the picture? Well with just some taxonomy on the back wall consisting of two antelopes and a reindeer and no trees in sight, this apparent themed bar-come-asian-restaurant feels more like some kind of social club with smoking outright banned from the small room itself, extraditing those smokers to a plastic covered canopy just beyond the back french doors. The place appears to be poulated by a few young asian men and the piped music breaks the silence but with long awkward pauses between songs. Drinks are about £2.70 a pint with not a bad selection. The staff are friendly enough but if you are after some family run (or rundown) social club (or curry club) head down here and your bound to get into the spirit of the jungle.

Ok could you tell i was being sarcastic? Only 3/10.

You’ve got this place all wrong - not much point in visiting places if you manage to miss the point entirely.

What is truly special about this place is the food - I’ve been a life-long food obsessive and this place serves some of the finest indian food I’ve eaten anywhere in the world.

All the dishes are cooked to order and all the meat is delivered fresh that day - this would have been obvious had you chosen to order something - even the onion bhajis would have been enough to open your eyes.

The decor may not be gastropub-chic and sometimes it’s a little quiet, but having a local pub with food this good is a blessing.

It’s also incredibly friendly - watching the football here is great fun with absolutely no aggression or unpleasantness.

The ethnic mix is quite special too - all having a
    laugh together.

I have no vested interest in the place other than being a loyal regular - do yourself a favour and either spend enough time in a place to really get a feel for its qualities, if you don’t your wasting your time and ours.
