The Printer’s Devil

Mar 2008 - The Printers Devil has now closed down
If pubs could easily be segregated into types in the way that maovies are classed by genre then the Printers Devil sits in the “Black Comedy” section. Downstairs a dark and gothic feel with the mannerisms of a typical pub. The barman, friendlier than any I have previously met offers us free popcorn and speedily serves us from the good selection of spirits behind the bar. The venue has two staircases, the one by the entrance pokes upstairs to an area which can be privately hired, with its own tiny bar and toilets. The front staircase also leads down into a cellar bar for the overflow of people which doesnt not occur frequently despite the prices being very reasonable and the charm of the places also being as free as the popcorn.
Overall a dark button on the coat of Chancery Lane but well worth the trip for a quieter than usual ale, in what can only be classed as one of the more traditional black comedys in the london collection - 7/10
