The Ridgeway Tavern

A while back I ventured to this pub on the outskirts of Enfield with two crazy friends. (They would had to have been crazy at these prices). The trip was at no aim other than to drink our favoured cocktail a “double unhappy” which is of course two shots of vodka in a pint glass with a blue WKD on top with 9 bits of ice-stired with the top of a stolen cane. This particular pub served three of these drinks for a mere twenty pounds and suffering this we moved on to try which looked like sakey. It was in fact non-alcoholic rice wine and tasted horrible. The place was empty the whole evening and its a pain to get to unless you’ve just escaped from the hospital opposite.Lots of our door tables and seating with a car park but not one for your average bar crawl.
Not impressed at only 4/10.

what a rubbish comment about a very nice
pub/restaurant!! And where does he live, that he found it so difficult to get to. Enfield is hardly outer Mongolia.

Went for lunch. The jacket potato which must have come from an area suffering from famine had a sliver of cheese and was cold.the sea food platter was not hot and the fish was tough and cold(cat food left overs?the other meals swung between atrricious to puke!!!the salad must have been retrived from Sanisbury’s bin
the only saving grace is the proximity of Chase farm hospital which is about 2 minutes away,if you can make it.
They should be banned from selling factory rejects classified as food!!!!!!

This pub is our local…the food has gone down hill in the recent months and their curry night is dire. When the manager is out front it runs very well but when the trainee is left to her own devices she is sullen verging on rude. The good, friendly staff sadly soon subcumb to the prevailing mood. However, it is still a decent pub, good prices and it doesnt allow children, which is great but rare.

Firstly, I have no problems with the food or drink in the Ridgeway. Also, the interior decor has improved in recent times and the tall tables in the round ‘booth-like’ sections are a comfortable place to sup your beer. As a local, living no more than 2 minutes away, my problem has always been the same at this pub over the years, regardless of management. There is never enough staff to man the bar! There always seems two-too few people taking orders. Food is ordered at the bar and can be very time consuming so waiting for just a couple of drinks can really push your patience. I agree with an above comment that the staff just do not look like they want to be there. But, maybe that’s because they are left to be over run by customers. For me, this pub just does not get the mix right of being both a restuarant and a pub!

I went out for a lovely meal with my family and we were served by a wonderful waitress named Charlotte. She was the most polite waitress I have ever come across. She had a lovely smile and could not have done enough for us. However when I saw how the Manager at Enfield spoke to the staff I was gobsmacked. She was rude and condescending to the most hardworking member of staff I have ever seen and I hope she does not treat the staff like that all the time. I am hoping it was because she was stressed, however that is not a good enough excuse and I will be reporting her to those higher up at Ember Inn!! Just a little tip to the Enfield Manager….treat your staff with dignity and respect and they will do anything for you. Treat them like **** and it will backfire on you! LOVELY PUB, LOVELY FOOD, WONDERFUL STAFF……..SHOCKINGLY RUDE DISRESPECTFUL MANAGER.
