O’Neil’s Bar

This O’ Neils is a very loud very popular and strangely pleasant addition to the chain. Saturday nights see young and middle aged people alike congregate in a formidable sea of faces where getting to the bar is not a struggle and service is followed with a smile. The ceiling is lower than the bar next door and this makes the place feel communal and somehow full of life. The live band adds something to the vibe a lot more than similar attempts which have been tried in other versions of this chain as I have been in on a Saturday night but they take requests and i can see the place having a similar sense of cheer of a daytime and for lunch.
Overall friendly and welcoming although will definitely be too noisy and crowded for many, factored with the sameness of the chain it can’t hope to ever climb higher than a 7/10

Poor customer service, 29 July 2008:
Having waited at the bar to be served my 2nd drink (only the 2nd that evening so I was not in a drunken state, abusive or ‘loud’) and been akcnowledged by two members of bar staff, I was disgusted upon finally gaining the attention of a bar-person to be informed that the tills were now closed. This was despite the fact that ‘regulars’ still appeared to be receiving service. Clearly the staff here have no customer awareness whatsoever and needless to say I shall not be visiting there, or most possibly any other of their establishments, again. If you want sub-standard service by all means go there otherwise give it a wide berth.
