Guanabara Bar

One of London’s most innovative and interesting Bars, Guanabara is a samba dance club in a large hall-like room above the quiet back streets of Covent Garden. Once you pass through the cafe-lounge like entrance and up the stairs you enter the bustling room which has a walkway around the outside of the central dance-floor with a bar on both the left and right sides. The walkway leads down to the dance-floor at various steps and on the dance-floor level is a stage and an assortment of long tables which seat about 8 at a time and look like spokes on the outside of a wheel. The venue gets everyone up and dancing with a performer and often live music on the stage in a vibrant south American interactive performance. The cocktails (providing you get there early enough in the evening) are incredible, with the largest variety of fruits behind a bar I have seen in London. The place can get quite expensive at the weekends and there could be more seating but you can book tables and the drinks, I just have to say, are to die for (try a blackberry Mojito!)
Overall a colourful, friendly, exciting location to learn to shake your hips in a club completely different from anything else around, I’m glad in part that its not the easiest venue to find, 9/10
