Bell and Compass Bar

The Bell and Compass sounds like the name of an old pub but in fact it is a rather new age gastro-style venue sitting on the strand in Central London. So what can be said about the Bell and Compass? Well to start off with its very pricey, I happened upon a tab of eight british pounds for a pint and shot and a soft drink. The bar is made up on an intresting collection of smaller rooms which sit behind the bar area itself, which has its own space for seating and drinking. The rooms are filled with simple furniture and cheap woods with white walls, basically the place is very plain and pushing the cleanly angle of a new style pub.

Overall, sitting at a rather low elonggated table beside an used fireplace with firneds we look around and it appears the venue is trying to be upmarket but the decor is a little downgraded. The food as well was not what the menu stated it would be, so there was disappointment there and although the place was not overcrowded, it still seemed pretty busy for a week night, so at least you can grab a seat. The consensus was a 5/10

I disagree. i went with my Padre, we both enjoyed the food, the interior was very nice. What do you expect from British food or food served in a British pub? I expect nothing but extortion. I come from Italy, I know what food tastes like and I speak English, even monkey English for a foreigner is already good compered with most English who don’t know how to speak any foreign language plus are so grumpy and feel so superior for no reason whatsoever that I wish not to visit England anymore. If you want to know what good food is about then come to Europe. I went to Hungary last year and to Portugal and Spain and I tasted really good food there for a very reasonable price. I have had the best food in Paris and Italy, Russia was pretty ok too, the Czech have fantastic sweets. But England…Even its best beer comes from…elsewhere i.e. Ireland. And the best whiskey from Scotland ha ha ha. Ciao Maniaci
