The Cock and Dragon

Grandure, fancy and frolic in the open fields of Cockfosters and in all its glory welcoming the day trekkers off of the Piccadilly line in Cockfosters and hikers out of Trent park. What better combo that a well stocked country pub and an exotic Thai restaurant to the rear. But friends, do not be fooled by location this pub can punch you right in the wallet if it wants to, seemingly as busy as an inner-city gastro, this mini monster boasts wall to wall stuffed animals, birds and fish alongside many many types of spirit in as good a stocked a bar as i have seen in a while. And there is plenty of seating as well despite the number of people within, its a shame the car park gets full so quickly. A pint will set you back in excess of £3 and the Thai restaurant at the back is not cheap either (although the food is terrific, definitely worth it- but perhaps watch out for the over-salty soy sauce.) And what better way to enjoy a romantic expensive meal with a partner of Thai than to land back in the manor or an inn and take a dimly lit corner by a window and peer into the countryside for the rest of the evening. Okay a little idyllic, perhaps i forgot to mention the impotence and arrogance of the staff, the dirty tables and the difficulty of finding the place but it is definitely worth at least one adventure.

Overall 6/10, could be so much better if only it reflected the price of its surroundings and the bar staff greeted you with a smile instead of a frown :(
