Reflex Nightclub

The day i discovered a Reflex bar in central London was the day I fell in love with the city. I had no idea that a commercial club chain had an outlet in the shadow of St Paul’s Cathedral. Okay its not the easiest venue to find but stumble upon it before 10pm and there is a chance you wont be queuing for an hour. Within the bar is based on two basement levels with the first as a simple bar, cheap drinks cocktails and shooters and the second is at the bottom of a central staircase with a dance-floor, more neon lights than a downscaled version of Vegas and a quite electric atmosphere. The appeal here apart from MC Hammer prancing around on the big screens in his puffy trousers with the best of 80s anthems weighing the air down around you is the prices. This place is the cheapest club for drinks in the area and this is why it can get overcrowded and unfortunately does pull a meat market of a crowd.
Overall this 80s themed venue is definitely not the best example of the chain I have been to but it does have the upper side of location despite the crowd being a tad unappealing, definitely a haven for giggly girly student lovers of the 80s genre but londoners seem to know better - 7/10

If you like queueing for at least an hour to get in, only to wade through the puke on the dancefloor to then queue again for about half an hour to order your drinks over the soaking wet sticky bar from some of the slowest apathetic bar staff you’ve ever lost the will to live waiting for, Then this place is for you.
While waiting in all these queues, why not enjoy the great 80’s music, the choruses of which are cleverly interrupted by the DJ who doesn’t understand we don’t all like the sound of his voice as much as he does. But hey, who doesn’t like to hear their favourite tunes interrupted by some tool saying “Oooooo Yeahhhhhh” into the microphone - now that’s entertainment.

I first visited reflex on 2nd Aug’08 I arrived on a warm summer evening to find there was no draught Lager/cider available! despite this we stayed & later on in the evening they seemed to find the draught?! Strange…Is there more profit in selling bottle beer/cider? We visited another couple of times after that & nothing spectacular went wrong then last Saturday I went with a different crowd than I usually go with (On my recommendation of a fun night out) we arrived at 20:10 the queue was really long (I have never queued on previous occasions) the bouncer at the front told us that the whole club was reserved to various parties that had booked in advance, I thought this to be ridiculous maybe book 70% to ensure trade but to book the venue to capacity seemed stupid to me, we waited over an hour & eventually as parties did not turn up 1/2 an hour after there booked time they let groups of people in to the size of the non arriving party. They do not charge you anything if you book and don’t arrive, silly! When we got in, the place was near on empty! It did fill up very quickly though. This Saturday I visited again with my usual crowd they had tried to book but been told they weren’t taking any more bookings but that if we arrived before 930 we should be ok to get in, we arrived at 20:55 & eventually gained entry at 22:30 My point here really is to say most people get dressed up to go Reflex which means they have spent money sometimes up to £100 or more on fancy dress only to have to queue in the cold for ages & not neccesarily gain entry as many just don’t want to queue over an hour, I think it is ridiculous & will certainly not be returning, I will also be warning anyone I know not to bother unless they have a firm reservation. If the Management of Reflex read this hopefully they will sort it out. Book up to 70% & say “Get here early to assure entrance” then it is in the hands of your customers! Please provide them with my email address should they contact you.

I only wish i had read all the comments before going to Reflex. Seven of us girls went to Reflex to celebrate a 40th birthday, we hired a limo & enquired about the place long before going, all was good. we arrived, no queuing, paid £2 entry fee, then walked downstairs to a sweatbox! The barstaff were rude, impatient & slow. The bouncers were just as bad, what right do they have to just manhandle someone who was sitting on a chair dosing? the poor girl was just so hot & they only fresh air was up two flights of stairs! We chose to go here for a more ‘grown up’ evening with no ‘teeny boppers’, but this was worse, we all left extremely disappointed & will NEVER go back or recommend it to even my worse enemy!! The people who run it, should be disgusted with themselves & hopefully take some action soon…..

What a horrible place.. been before and wasnt too bad but this Saturday was a joke… the stupid barman spent more time throwing glasses around thinking he was Tom Cruise.. when at long last got served 4 bud’s were £19…. bloody joke. It stank in there, was hot and the toilets remind me of a market stall. In all honesty that place reflex is a shithole with rude staff throughout get the act together management…

Had an awful night there. The bouncer asked me to leave for dancing on the stairs (I thought you were meant to dance in a nightclub), they wouldn’t let me back in to get my coat, the staff were rude and unfriendly and it was a really dissapointing evening. I wouldn’t recommend it for a good night out. Find somewhere else (anywhere) to go!
