British Lawn Tennis Club

The lawn tennis association is staple of the New Barnet community, its tennis courts are in constant use, morning evening and weekend and in the club house at the back is a small bar with some traditional stools and small tables. The Bar is relatively well priced but is normally reserved for members and has no written opening hours which means popping in here for a pint after a game of doubles is a questionable activity. The staff are local and friendly if they realise they have some social connection to you but otherwise its not the sort of place you would stop in for for a quick drink.

Overall, very small suitable only for this clubs members and perhaps the odd tennis champion in the spirit of Britain’s most beloved past-time - 3/10

The pubs in Barnet have an incredible heritage, highlighted in Richard Selby’s recent book about Barnet pubs. I have to say this is one of the best books on the history of Barnet and well worth a read.
