The Railway Pub

Sitting literally outside the back of finsbury park station is the railway pub and thank god, I was plenty thirsty. Half of the door were bolted shut so getting in wasn’t easy but when i finally hauled myself through the doors i found myself looking in the face of a middle aged lanky bar keep and an old regular perched at his bar. The place was i little Gothic with dark corners and light streaming in through windows on all sides like a forgotten church. The place was pretty small though. The bar as the centre-piece had enough room to maneuver around it with minimal seating.the bar keep offered up a fair selection of drinks but didn’t seem very friendly so rather than hang around I headed outside to the small but comfortable slab of beer garden. Sitting at the edge of someone else’s table i drank my pint of cider, enjoyed the lack of plot that this venue lives on and made my way out through the next unbolted door.

Overall the railway is a distinct pub in a convenient location but without the charm and polite greeting i had expected, but at least it quenched my thirst- 5/10
