The Kings Head Pub

Often have I walked past this staple in the diet of the islington drinker but waited some 5 years before going inside. I remember a time when one would pay to enter this pub due to its popularity but in hard economic times the entry in now free. Within is a well lit pub with a larger circular bar dominating the room, the queues at the bar are around two deep on all sides but service is quite fast. The atmosphere is quite loud and lively and the prices on drinks reasonable for area although the selection of drinks isn’t really there.as majestic as the look of both interior and exterior are, i don’t see the appeal of the place. Yes the music is quiet enough to have a conversation but with no where to park yourself - as with most pubs in upper street- it is a stand at the bar and drink affair.
As such the visit is a short one and knocking back my cider we head on by the kings head and down to angel to find any sign of nightlife in after 1am-unfortunately there is little to speak of - 5/10
